The political landscape in Bihar has fractured further following the state’s decision to strip RJD stalwarts Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi of their Z-plus security cover. The move, decried by allies as a calculated act of vendetta, has triggered a wave of voluntary surrenders of protection by the family.
Congress leader Imran Masood labeled the security withdrawal a clear instance of political retaliation directed by the state government and the BJP. In a show of defiance, Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition, returned his own security detail, aligning himself with his parents in protest against what the party describes as the partisan weaponization of state resources.Beyond the security dispute, a battle for territory has emerged as Rabri Devi faces a 15-day eviction notice for her residence at 10 Circular Road. While authorities have proposed alternative housing, she remains steadfast in her refusal to vacate the property, citing its status as a vital political stronghold for the RJD. Shakti Yadav, speaking for the party, categorized the dual pressure of security cuts and eviction orders as a deliberate campaign to undermine the Yadav family’s influence in the region.
