A seven-month-old Palestinian infant was killed Friday evening near Checkpoint 17 in Tel Rumeida, Hebron, after Israeli soldiers opened fire on a civilian vehicle. The child’s parents were also wounded in the encounter, which the military has since classified as a response to a perceived threat from the car.
The grandmother of the child described the harrowing moments when bullets tore through the vehicle, striking the infant and injuring both parents. The Palestinian health ministry confirmed the fatalities and injuries shortly after the incident occurred in the volatile West Bank neighborhood.Israeli military officials acknowledged the casualties, identifying the victims as non-combatants in their initial assessment. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the soldiers' decision to engage the civilian car is currently underway to determine why the threat was perceived as imminent.
