Flanked by Rahul Gandhi and Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge submitted his nomination papers on Friday for the June 18 Rajya Sabha elections. His candidacy signals a strategic consolidation for the party within his home state as the national legislative contest intensifies across ten states.
Joining Kharge at the Vidhana Soudha, Pawan Khera and Mansoor Ali Khan also filed their nominations before Assembly Secretary Vishalakshi. Following the submission, Kharge emphasized party cohesion, expressing confidence in the Congress’s ability to secure victory in the upcoming polls.The Election Commission initiated the process for 24 seats on June 1, triggering a broader mobilization among major political players. While the Congress has finalized its state-specific candidate lists, the BJP has simultaneously revealed its own slate of nominees, including Tai Tagak for Arunachal Pradesh, setting the stage for a competitive legislative reshuffle.
