When his wife announced she wanted a divorce, 48-year-old Erik Pierwsza did not reach for a lawyer or a mediator. Instead, he climbed into an excavator and began tearing his Pennsylvania home apart while his wife and two daughters remained trapped inside the structure, prompting a swift police intervention.

The incident in Buffalo Township left the home with severe structural damage, though the family escaped without physical injury. Police records indicate that emergency dispatchers heard the roar of heavy machinery and the screams of the victims during a frantic 911 call placed as the walls were being compromised. Pierwsza reportedly declared, "If it's over, I'll tear the house down," before beginning the demolition on May 26.

Following the destruction, the suspect fled to a neighboring town, where he was apprehended by authorities later that day. He now faces multiple charges, including causing a catastrophe and recklessly endangering another person. Neighbors expressed shock at the outburst, describing the accused as an outdoorsman with no history of such extreme behavior. Pierwsza remains in Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail, awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 9.
