Ayodhya Seers Denounce Digvijaya Singh Over Hindutva Remarks

Religious leaders in Ayodhya have launched a fierce campaign against Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh, accusing him of attacking Sanatan culture through his recent criticism of the RSS and VHP. The backlash follows Singh’s claims that Hindutva rhetoric is fueling religious division and distorting traditional Hindu identity.

Ayodhya Seers Denounce Digvijaya Singh Over Hindutva Remarks

Mahant Sitaram Das Ji Maharaj labeled the Congress leader's comments as baseless and warned that party members would face black flags and protests should they attempt to visit Ayodhya. He cited the Congress party’s historical opposition to the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, including the hiring of legal counsel to stall construction, as evidence of their consistent stance against the site.

Mahamandleshwar Vishnu Das Ji Maharaj echoed these sentiments, characterizing the party’s leadership as trapped in a colonial mindset that seeks to vilify saffron-clad figures. The seers specifically targeted Singh’s upcoming ‘Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra,’ a march from Ujjain to Ayodhya, promising that the Hindu community would provide a hostile reception. Singh had previously alleged that VHP offerings were being diverted into BJP election funds and argued that the term 'Hindu' is absent from ancient religious scriptures, a position the local clergy views as a direct assault on the faith.
