Cockroach Janta Party defiant as October 10 protest nears

“How many people will you arrest?” asked CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke, as the party vowed to move forward with nationwide demonstrations on October 10. The defiance follows a wave of detentions and clashes between protesters and police in Delhi, centered on demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leadership has framed the government’s recent crackdown as a desperate bid to stifle youth-driven dissent. Saurav Das, a prominent figure within the movement, declared that the era of state-led intimidation has reached its limit. According to Das, the party remains prepared to face imprisonment or worse, urging supporters to maintain the momentum for the planned October 10 mobilization regardless of whether current leadership remains at liberty.

The tension escalated following Sunday’s protests, where Delhi Police reported roughly 15 injuries among personnel and the detention of 110 individuals. The unrest stems from allegations of irregularities during the Special Intensive Revision exercise, a controversy fueled by reports that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had previously raised objections regarding electoral roll decisions. While the Election Commission maintains that these exchanges were standard administrative discourse rather than institutional dissent, the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) remains unconvinced.

IYC National President Uday Bhanu Chib, who led a march toward Jantar Mantar, accused the central government of obstructing peaceful assembly to protect Gyanesh Kumar. As the October 10 deadline approaches, the rhetoric from both the CJP and IYC suggests that the confrontation over electoral accountability is deepening, with protesters dismissing official denials and signaling a readiness to occupy public spaces despite heavy police deployment.
