Speaking at the Kautilya Economic Conclave, Garg emphasized that the current optimism is not isolated but spans across the manufacturing and service sectors. While government spending remains a primary driver of the economy, the Secretary highlighted that the private sector’s response and household consumption patterns are equally instrumental in maintaining this trajectory. Major firms, including S&P Global Ratings and Fitch, have adjusted their outlooks to reflect this steady performance.
Regarding the potential fallout from geopolitical tensions in West Asia, Garg noted that the economy remains insulated from major shocks. He credited government interventions for neutralizing the risks associated with volatile global oil prices. According to the Secretary, the combination of strategic policy management and organic growth across domestic sectors allows India to withstand external pressures that might otherwise derail growth targets.
