The Rajasthan State Election Commission has scheduled the Panchayati Raj elections across four phases, spanning from October 23 to November 28, 2026. The Model Code of Conduct is now in effect, setting the stage for a political confrontation centered on rural development. Gehlot specifically targeted Sharma’s comments regarding the duration of farm labor, claiming the Chief Minister’s rhetoric has severely damaged the party’s standing in village communities.
In contrast, Bhajanlal Sharma has framed his administration around the empowerment of rural populations, women, and youth. During a recent address in Jaipur, the Chief Minister touted the expansion of the Kisan Samman Nidhi to 9,000 rupees, noting that over 76 lakh farmers have received a total of 14,400 crore rupees in support. The administration has also pledged to secure daytime electricity access for all farmers by 2027. Despite these claims, the contest is expected to hinge on whether voters prioritize these state-led welfare initiatives or the opposition’s narrative of government negligence.
