During his visit, which spanned Milwaukee, Chicago, and New York, Goyal met with key industry groups including the Asian American Hotel Owners Association. He emphasized that India has finalized trade agreements with 38 developed nations over the last four years, creating access to economies representing nearly USD 60 trillion in GDP. These pacts aim to integrate Indian goods into global value chains through zero-duty arrangements.
Beyond trade policy, the minister made a specific pitch for data center infrastructure. Citing a unified national electricity grid and improved power stability, he framed India as the safest geopolitical choice for housing sensitive data. The government estimates this sector alone could attract USD 200 billion in investment. Addressing long-standing investor concerns regarding bureaucracy, Goyal asserted that the current administration has eliminated high-level corruption and continues to simplify regulatory procedures to improve the ease of doing business. His visit also included high-level discussions at the G20 Trade Ministers' meeting in Milwaukee, as both nations look to finalize a mutually beneficial bilateral trade framework.
