The demonstrations, which drew participants from the Students’ Federation of India and the Democratic Youth Federation of India, saw activists gather at Jantar Mantar and Mumbai’s Shivaji Park. Police utilized Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to maintain order, resulting in the detention of several figures, including AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj. Gandhi characterized the state response as a futile attempt to silence legitimate inquiries into the integrity of the electoral system.
Political tensions escalated following reports that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi recorded 14 objections over ten months regarding the Special Intensive Revision exercise. These concerns touched on voter roll management and database access. The INDIA bloc has scheduled a series of follow-up actions, including a planned rally in Delhi on November 1 to sustain pressure on the poll body.
