Dhami Extends Ganga Expressway to Haridwar During Memorial Visit

Standing at the Shaheed Sthal in Muzaffarnagar, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored the activists who died during the statehood movement. The visit served as a platform to announce a major infrastructure milestone: the federal government has officially cleared the extension of the Ganga Expressway into Haridwar.

Addressing the assembly, Dhami noted that long-standing bureaucratic hurdles between Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, particularly regarding asset division, have largely been cleared since the states separated in 2000. He credited the expansion of the expressway to his direct coordination with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Connecting Haridwar, the spiritual origin of the river, to the existing high-speed corridor to Lucknow and Prayagraj marks a significant shift in regional connectivity.

While the Chief Minister focused on infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, internal political maneuvers took shape in Dehradun. Ram Madhav, the newly appointed BJP state in-charge, arrived at Jolly Grant Airport to spearhead strategy sessions for the 2027 Assembly elections. During a meeting at the party headquarters, Madhav joined State President Mahendra Bhatt and General Secretary Phanindra Nath Sharma to mobilize district leaders for the upcoming campaign cycle.
