Vijay Campaigns in Maduranthakam as Stalin Attacks Language Policy

Thousands lined the National Highway on Friday as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay concluded his final campaign push for the Maduranthakam by-election. The roadshow, stretching from Mamandoor to Achirupakkam, showcased the political muscle of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, even as rising tensions over language policy dominated the discourse.

While Vijay rallied support for candidate Maragatham Kumaravel, the political climate remained charged by accusations from former Chief Minister MK Stalin. The DMK leader launched a sharp critique of the ruling party, alleging that the government is attempting to dismantle the state's long-standing two-language policy of Tamil and English in favor of Hindi.

Stalin took to social media to warn that the government is abandoning its electoral promises, characterizing the current administration as a "reels government" catering to North Indian influencers rather than local constituents. He cautioned that any deviation from the state's linguistic lifeline would be met with fierce opposition, questioning whether the current leadership is simply testing public sentiment before inevitably performing a tactical retreat.
