YSRCP accuses Andhra Pradesh government of authoritarian 'Red Book' rule

Opposition leaders in Andhra Pradesh are challenging the ruling coalition’s governance, claiming a so-called Red Book Constitution is being deployed to silence dissent. Speaking on the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, YSRCP representatives argued that the current administration has abandoned democratic ideals in favor of state-led intimidation.

Kurasala Kannababu, Velampalli Srinivas, Malladi Vishnu, and Lella Appireddy led the critique from the party's Tadepalli office, contrasting Gandhi’s non-violent legacy with reports of lathi-charges against protesting farmers, students, and employees. The opposition alleges that the government has systematically neglected the principles of Gram Swaraj while fostering an environment of fear for those seeking accountability.

Attention centered on Education Minister Nara Lokesh regarding the Mega DSC-2025 teacher recruitment drive. Drawing a parallel to Lal Bahadur Shastri’s resignation following a rail accident, the YSRCP demanded Lokesh step down over alleged irregularities in the recruitment process. The government maintains that the process is transparent, citing the successful filling of 10,060 posts and promising rigorous scrutiny of candidates, including those under the sports quota. Despite the administration's defensive stance on its job calendar and recruitment rules, the YSRCP continues to frame the current political climate as a direct affront to the agrarian and democratic values championed by former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
