Tewari argued that the scale of the alleged disenfranchisement surpasses the entire populations of most nations, placing the figure of 13 crore in a global context. He insisted that the Chief Election Commissioner should resign, citing a loss of institutional integrity. His call for a return to the June 4, 2024, electoral rolls reflects a broader push by opposition leaders to challenge the validity of recent administrative changes within the Election Commission.
Joining the dissent, RJD MP Manoj Jha supported opposition protests at Jantar Mantar, characterizing the movement as a citizen-led defense of democratic institutions. Jha alleged that the Election Commission’s recent decision to launch a special drive across 20 states serves as a tacit admission of earlier errors. He accused the commission of operating under external influence, suggesting that the systematic nature of the irregularities points toward a coordinated effort to undermine the electoral process. Jha further linked these developments to past controversies, including postal ballot concerns, asserting that the current leadership within the commission lacks the necessary accountability to oversee fair elections.
