The proposed deal focuses on restoring unhindered shipping through the vital chokepoint. In exchange for guaranteed passage, the United States is prepared to lift its long-standing blockade on Iranian ports. This reciprocal arrangement seeks to stabilize regional logistics and ease the economic pressure currently stifling maritime trade in the area.
Washington remains cautious, however. Officials stress that any easing of restrictions stays strictly contingent on Iran meeting its specified commitments. The accord functions on a performance-based mechanism, meaning the removal of port blockades will be tied directly to Iran’s ongoing compliance with the terms established during these Omani-mediated talks.
