McConnell confirmed his departure from the facility on Thursday, signaling a shift toward outpatient recovery during the Senate’s scheduled state work period. While he has been absent from public view since his mid-June hospitalization, he maintains that he is actively communicating with legislative staff and Senate colleagues regarding ongoing policy matters.
The senator’s health challenges began with a fall that left him briefly unconscious, followed by a diagnosis of pneumonia that required a course of antibiotics. As the current chair of the Senate Rules Committee, McConnell stated that his doctors advised him to prioritize physical therapy while continuing to manage his official responsibilities from home.
