BJP Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Politicizing Student Protests

BJP MP Sambit Patra accused Rahul Gandhi of peddling a false narrative by using student protesters for political gain, while simultaneously questioning the opposition leader’s silence on recruitment exam irregularities in Jharkhand. Patra dismissed claims of police violence during the July 20 'March to Parliament' as entirely fabricated.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Patra challenged Gandhi’s claims regarding the July 20 demonstration at Jantar Mantar, where participants alleged police brutality and the use of pellet guns. The BJP leader categorically denied that any shots were fired, stating that such accusations were part of a deliberate attempt to misrepresent the government’s actions. He urged the students to remain fearless, asserting that the opposition is manipulating their grievances to advance a divisive political agenda.

Patra also targeted Gandhi for his criticism of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, arguing that the Congress leader routinely disrupts parliamentary proceedings, making it impossible for ministers to address the House effectively. Furthermore, he dismissed allegations of communal profiling raised by a student named Muskan, emphasizing that the government operates under the principle of collective development. The BJP official redirected the focus toward Jharkhand, where aspirants are protesting alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC CGL recruitment exams. He questioned why Gandhi has avoided engaging with those students, characterizing his focus on the Delhi protests as a selective approach meant to suit his own political objectives.
