The unrest stems from the July 5 announcement of the 14th JPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination results, which triggered widespread claims of irregularities. Student leader Devendra Nath Mahato has maintained a hunger strike in protest, recently transitioning to consuming only water following an appeal from activist Sonam Wangchuk.

In response to the mounting pressure, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has committed to forming a high-level panel within 48 hours to evaluate the aspirants' concerns. General Secretary Vinod Pandey stated that the government intends to take exemplary action based on gathered evidence within the coming days. Soren added that investigative agencies are already executing raids and arrests, maintaining that the administration remains willing to hear from students directly to reach a concrete resolution.
