Sanjay Raut targets Amit Shah over Jantar Mantar police crackdown

Raut’s remarks surfaced during a press conference addressing the recent political firestorm surrounding the term "Goongi Gudiya"—a label previously directed at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar by state Congress members. Raut defended the usage of such language, arguing that political figures must endure harsh criticism when they fail to address public concerns, such as the deteriorating law and order situation in Beed district.

Contradicting the sensitivity shown by some party allies, Raut insisted that the criticism directed at Pawar was not a gendered attack but a challenge to her constitutional responsibility. He noted that had a male minister displayed similar silence, the same label would have been applied without hesitation. Referencing historical precedents, he recalled how Indira Gandhi was once branded with the same phrase, only to silence detractors through her governance. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan adopted a more cautious stance, suggesting that while the discourse in Maharashtra politics has plummeted, the core issue remains the government’s refusal to answer for the state's security lapses.
