Opposition MPs disrupt Parliament over protest violence and temple funds

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, RJD leader Manoj Jha, and Manickam Tagore led the calls for Union Home Minister Amit Shah to address the House regarding the reported lathi charge on protesters in New Delhi. Revolutionary Socialist Party MP NK Premachandran criticized the Home Minister’s absence, demanding accountability for both the alleged police violence and the missing temple funds.

Inside the complex, the Samajwadi Party underscored the financial allegations with a symbolic protest. Party members displayed a donation box, with Akhilesh Yadav making a contribution to highlight claims of theft regarding devotee offerings. Samajwadi Party MP Anand Bhadauria escalated the rhetoric, accusing the government of using excessive force—including pellet guns and firearms—against students. Simultaneously, DMK lawmakers gathered at the Makar Dwar to pressure the government on the Cauvery river dispute, seeking immediate intervention to secure Tamil Nadu’s water allocation.
