Russian military claims strikes on four cargo vessels and port facility

The Russian Defence Ministry reported Tuesday that its forces targeted four cargo ships allegedly transporting military equipment to Ukraine, alongside a vehicle production plant in the port of Chornomorsk. These strikes, occurring across multiple coastal hubs, mark a direct escalation in efforts to disrupt Ukrainian logistics and supply chains.

According to the ministry, two of the vessels were struck on Monday evening while docked in the ports of Mykolaiv and Pivdennyi. Two additional ships were reportedly hit south of Odesa, with Moscow claiming the vessels were actively carrying weapons and military supplies.

Beyond the naval targets, the strikes hit the Chornomorsk Automotive Components Plant. Moscow asserted that this facility, along with a nearby port terminal, functioned as a hub for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to repair military vehicles and store ammunition and fuel supplies. Reuters has not independently verified these claims regarding the nature of the cargo or the specific utility of the damaged industrial sites.
