The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack, which claimed the lives of seven police officers and ten civilians. Rescue 1122 personnel confirmed the death toll climbed from 14 to 17 as victims succumbed to their wounds in local hospitals. Regional police official Fida Hussain identified one of the deceased as the suicide bomber himself.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif condemned the violence, while provincial police units initiated a manhunt for potential accomplices. This incident marks a sharp escalation in regional insurgency, fueling ongoing diplomatic tensions. Pakistan’s government continues to allege that the Afghan Taliban provides sanctuary and support to these militant groups, a charge the Taliban leadership in Kabul maintains is false.
