Opposition leaders, operating under the INDIA bloc banner, have intensified their critique of Home Minister Amit Shah. The coalition is demanding an explanation for the Delhi Police’s use of lathis and pellet guns against demonstrators during a march organized by the Cockroach Janata Party. Tensions escalated within the Parliament complex, where MPs, including Akhilesh Yadav and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, gathered to protest the Home Minister's absence from the House, openly questioning his whereabouts and accountability regarding the state of law and order.
Congress MP Pawan Khera characterized the situation as a breakdown in governance, specifically citing the treatment of students at Jantar Mantar. The political friction was further fueled by a recent social media statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who addressed the protest by claiming he had forgiven the demonstrators despite the use of abusive language directed at him and his late mother. Opposition members dismissed this gesture, comparing the rhetoric to the impunity seen in high-profile financial scandals, and reiterated their call for a formal response from the government on both the police conduct and the alleged embezzlement of temple offerings.
