Beyond the demand for a statement on the July 20 lathi-charge and firing incidents, the Opposition intends to challenge the government over alleged irregularities in Ram Mandir donations. This controversy gained momentum after Purnea MP Pappu Yadav staged a mock collection of funds last week, a move that drew further attention following an alleged physical attack on him in the capital on Sunday.
Congress MP KC Venugopal confirmed the Opposition’s unified stance, noting that while plans regarding the potential introduction of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act Amendment Bill remain unclear, the demand for accountability from the Home Ministry remains central. On the other side of the aisle, BJP MP Manish Jaiswal accused the Opposition of prioritizing political theater over legislative duty. Jaiswal argued that constant disruptions hinder the functioning of Question Hour and prevent Parliament from serving its primary purpose of passing public interest legislation, urging a return to standard procedural debate.
