The situation remains critical in Pathanamthitta, where the Pamba River is swelling and the Moozhiyar Dam remains under a Red Alert. Authorities have issued immediate warnings for residents along the riverbanks to prepare for evacuation should the dam gates be opened to manage overflow. The physical toll of the storms is mounting: 27 homes have been completely destroyed, while another 196 have sustained significant structural damage.
Currently, 5,792 displaced residents are housed across 209 state-run relief camps. The government has pledged comprehensive financial assistance for families who lost loved ones, crops, or livelihoods, while promising medical support for the 13 individuals injured in weather-related incidents. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has publicly urged volunteers and party workers to mobilize and assist local authorities, specifically highlighting the heightened danger in the state's hilly regions. The administration maintains that it is fully prepared for further emergencies, provided that residents strictly adhere to official safety directives.
